Make the most of your holidays in India by undertaking a Nag Tibba trek through the mountains in Uttarakhand. The end of monsoon translates into a cool weather, and the snow in the height of the season is all you need to enjoy the time. Nag Tibba is roughly a 10000-feet high mountain peak in the Garhwal region of the state of Uttarakhand. Locals believe that the Serpent God or Nag Devta resides here; hence the peak has been named as such. It is a revered site, and devotees offer prayers to the deity here. Adventure lovers and mountaineers are drawn to it as its summit offers panoramic views of snow-clad peaks of the Central Himalayas in the distance.
Nag Tibba trek Uttarakhand begins from the small village of Pantwari, which is reached after a 6-hour drive from Dehradun – the state capital. Your first stop is the temple of this deity that is one of his many shrines in the region. You will stay in a camp in the region, and will also enjoy a nice bonfire. The next day you start the most significant section of Nag Tibba trekking as it will take you through forests and brooks right up to the summit. Here you get to meander through pine and deodar forests and be close to untouched nature. Along the way, you will see terraced farms and small villages, which will make you realise that there exists human life in the wilderness as well.
On arrival at the Dehradun, Bus stop meet a tour representative and drive to the Pantwari village. Pass Mussoorie, one of India's most popular hill stations, and the spectacular Kempty Falls on the way.
The village of Pantwari is located at an elevation of around 4642 ft and is the place from where the Nag Tibba trek begins. You start walking on a cemented path, going up from the main village market. This trail is a steep one and it will take around 4-5 hours to complete. After lunch en route, we will be moving towards the campsite to be reached by evening. Once arrived, we will set up a camp for the night. Tea/coffee will be served immediately after and a sumptuous meal in the night around a bonfire under the starry sky. Overnight stay in tents.
Wake up early morning to enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee. Post breakfast, hiking for 2 km is to be undertaken to reach the Nagtibba top (3050 m). Make a stop here to enjoy the fantastic views of the snow-clad mountains in the regions of Garhwal and Himachal. Most famous peaks such as Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Neelkanth, Black peak and many more are within the eyeshot from here.
Return to base camp for lunch. After lunch, head back to Pantwari. From Pantwari, drive back to Dehradun Bus stop
